Rocky's Dedication - NOW POSTPONED

Just to let anyone who want to know that we are holding Rocky's dedication at 11am on the 16th March, 2008 at Carmel Church, Plymouth. If you're reading this and you would like to come you would be most welcome.

For those who may not know, a dedication is different to a christening. A christening is the act of water baptising a child, but we believe that baptism is something that should be a conscious choice which babies are not capable of. Dedication is a promise making ceremony. Alex and I will stand before the church and make a promise to raise Rocky with the knowledge of Jesus Christ and of church life and then the church stands and promises to support us as we do that. It's a very simple part of a service, but it is a serious promise.

After that, I'll be preaching on 'The Rocky Principle' which is why we gave him the name in the first place and then there will be a buffet. All together now, Eritrean bread, mmmm.

Watch this space as Im sure there will be photos and audio from the day.
